About Obsign
The system of record for controlled-substance trade
Obsign holds the permits and their balances, the documents for every shipment, the two-person sign-off at dispatch, and a tamper-evident history of every step. It replaces the spreadsheets, email approvals and paper trails that the consignment layer of regulated trade has run on for too long.
Obsign is built in the United Kingdom by a team with a background in regulated-trade compliance and logistics software. We built it because the highest-stakes parts of moving a controlled substance, staying within an authorised quantity, proving who signed off a shipment and when, and producing that evidence on demand, were still being done by hand.
Why we built it
An organisation that exports or imports controlled substances must not exceed the quantity a permit or certificate authorises, must be able to show who authorised a specific shipment, and must be able to produce that evidence when an inspector asks. Run on spreadsheets and inboxes, each of those is a manual reconciliation waiting to drift. Obsign makes each one a recorded, checked, single-purpose action in software.
How Obsign is different
- Its controls live in the database, not just the interface, so a shipment cannot be pushed through by working around the screen.
- A request over the remaining balance is refused with the exact shortfall named, not merely flagged.
- Dispatch takes two different people, each re-entering a live second factor at the moment of signing.
- Every change is recorded in an append-only, hash-chained log that can be checked on demand, so nothing is quietly rewritten after the fact.
How we build
- Enforce, do not decorate. A control that matters is enforced where it cannot be bypassed, never shown as a label.
- Records you own. Documents download as their originals, the audit trail verifies from its own contents, and your data exports in open formats, so the integrity of your record never depends on us.
- Honesty over overclaiming. Obsign is a supporting system of record. It does not judge compliance or confirm a document with its issuing authority; a person on your team makes those calls.
Obsign owns the consignment layer: permits, balances, shipment documents, dispatch control and the evidence trail. It sits alongside your quality system, not inside it, and does not replace the licence holder's own regulatory obligations.
Who it is for
Organisations that hold export permits or import certificates for controlled substances, today pharmaceutical exporters and importers, and want an auditable system without the cost and timeline of a full enterprise platform.
